40 years - 40 natural reserves – Hetschendeltchen
This typical Ardennes valley called "Hetschendeltchen" includes several habitats such as an orchard, wet meadows, marshes and springs.
The first 2 hectares of the Hetschendeltchen nature reserve, which forms the basin of the Wooschenterbaach spring near Heiderscheid, were acquired by the Foundation in 1988. Gradually, the Foundation was able to expand the reserve, which now consists of an orchard, several spring areas, wet wasteland and thin grassland. The Wooschenterbaach is a small stream. It flows into the Sûre after only 2.6 km, but manages to carve out a typical Ardennes valley, deeply cut into the plateau, and to cover an impressive difference in altitude of 220 meters. The deciduous forests, situated on the steep slopes, which are difficult to access, present in some places magnificent mystical trees, increasing the specific charm of the valley.
