New Noise: Biffy Clyro - James and Ben Johnston interview

"On Futique, the mantra became 'let Biffy be Biffy', we let things roll and went for all the fun we could find"
After more than two decades of blistering riffs, anthemic choruses, and sweat-drenched live shows, Biffy Clyro have never been a band to rest on legacy.
With their new album Futique, the Scottish trio continue to push at the edges of what it means to be a rock band in 2025, fearless, emotionally raw, and unflinchingly themselves.
Ahead of their much-anticipated return to Luxembourg’s Rockhal next year (promoted by den Atelier), we caught up with drummer Ben Johnston and bassist James Johnston to talk about the band’s enduring resilience, the unshakable bond that’s kept them moving forward, and why Futique might be their most instinctively “Biffy” record yet.
From embracing their own brand of stereotyped Scottishness (and subverting it, as ever) to revealing which band member is guilty of secret yawns during shows, the brothers pull no punches, even as they reflect on what keeps the fire alive after all these years.
