Screen Time: Episode 62 - Jennifer's Body 31.05.26

Screen Time Episode 62 was a gloriously odd mix of cult horror, blockbuster spectacle and more than a little chaos.
The featured soundtrack came from Jennifer's Body, a film now regarded as years ahead of its time, with its blend of emo, indie and alternative rock helping transform a misunderstood horror comedy into a genuine cult classic.
From there, attention turned to two major upcoming releases: Steven Spielberg's alien conspiracy epic Disclosure Day and the fantasy-heavy Masters of the Universe, both of which look set to dominate cinema conversations in the months ahead.
The Kinepolis chart was topped by The Mandalorian & Grogu, ahead of Michael and The Devil Wears Prada 2, while indie horror success story Obsession continued to punch above its weight.
Movie news took a delightfully eccentric turn too, covering György Pálfi's acclaimed chicken-perspective drama Hen, the long-awaited return of Tintin under Peter Jackson's direction, Paddington 4 securing Armando Iannucci as writer, and Russell Crowe batting away online controversy after a fan encounter in Paris.
On the television side, dragons, mutants and gangsters dominated proceedings. House of the Dragon season three is promising one of the biggest battles ever attempted on television, X-Men '97 is diving headfirst into time-travelling mayhem, and rumours surrounding Tom Hardy's future on MobLand continue to swirl.
Reviews were a tale of two very different productions: Mortal Kombat II was dismissed as fan-service-heavy noise wrapped in expensive CGI, while Beef season two earned four stars for its brilliantly uncomfortable look at how small acts of selfishness can spiral into life-changing consequences.
Gaming brought the usual mix of nostalgia and giant franchises. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 sparked debate with its politically charged storyline and next-generation focus, Donkey Kong 64 finally found its way to Nintendo Switch Online, and Sonic fans were given an excuse to dust off their blue trainers with news of a major orchestral world tour.
Add in a Toy Story CGI fact, a cinema ticket giveaway and a healthy dose of Jennifer's Body tunes, and Episode 62 once again proved that Screen Time is at its best when it embraces the weird, the wonderful and everything in between.
