Another hour of news, features, reviews from Movies, Streaming and Gaming.....

Cinema’s apparently decided that new is overrated. This week Avengers: Endgame storms back to the top of the Luxembourg box office seven years after everybody had already said goodbye, while Resident Evil, The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day continue to hang around the Kinepolis Top Five. We’ll also look ahead to the wonderfully peculiar Wicker and the considerably less comforting Other Mommy.

Our Featured Soundtrack comes from Grosse Pointe Blank, where John Cusack’s professional hitman returns home for a school reunion accompanied by The Clash, The Jam, The Specials, Violent Femmes, Echo & the Bunnymen and a Joe Strummer score.

Elsewhere in movie land, Brad Bird finally gets his 30-years-in-the-making Ray Gunn onto screens, Sabrina Carpenter becomes Ginger Rogers opposite Tom Holland’s Fred Astaire, and I Play Rocky finds an appropriately determined actor to play an appropriately determined Sylvester Stallone.

On the review front, Masters of the Universe turns out to be goofy, kitschy and enormously fond of the Mattel toy box that created it, occasionally too fond, but considerably more fun once it stops winking and gets to Eternia. The Runner, meanwhile, is absolute bobbins: Gal Gadot races across London while the film attacks the FX controls like a Media Studies student left unsupervised. Bad? Very much so. Boring? Strangely, no.

Plus, Later… with Jools Holland returns, The Beast in Me unexpectedly gets a second season and Matt Lucas pours cold water on a Little Britain revival. In gaming, Naughty Dog suggests The Last of Us may not be quite so last after all, Vincent D’Onofrio wades into the latest God of War casting row, and we mourn the revelation that Guillermo del Toro once came tantalisingly close to making a BioShock movie.

Throw in Show Tunes, the Triple F and the usual unnecessary observations, and that’s Screen Time Episode 74.
