The Stranglers' founder in a wide-ranging chat + tribute to Iron maiden's Paul Di'Anno

Putin, U2, Belfast's Europa Hotel (the most bombed hotel in the hotel), dodging mines in Kosovo, the stark difference between British and continental crowds, why The Stranglers' name is often missing from discussions of key punk bands, the remarkable response to the record label request for another Golden Brown (which they initially refused to release) ... I had the absolute privilege to have an extended chat with a true iconoclast, Jean-Jacques Burnel, ahead of what proved to be a barnstorming return performance at the Rockhal.
Todays show also marked the passing this week of Paul Di'Anno, who would continue recording and touring long after bursting onto the scene with two stone cold albums, Iron Maiden's eponymous debut and follow-up Killers.
But the main focus is on the epic career of The Stranglers, marking 50 years in music with the current tour, so you'll find 11 of their tracks in todays show - and not just the familiar hits ...
