The duo are set to play de Gudde Wellen on November 14th 2025

Imagine if Donny Benet and Sleaford Mods had two giant mustachioed babies and once you've managed to get past the process you'll be left with something that approximates Getdown Services. Getdown Services are Josh and Ben, a pair of friends from Bristol who started sending each other pieces of music during lockdown.

Each would add a new layer or lyric and the whole idea was simply to make each other laugh. "I think it did start as a joke, explained Josh, "it was just a stupid thing we were doing trying to make each other laugh. The songs at the beginning were a lot more silly, they were really cheesy and just full of stupid stuff."

The links to Donny Benet, who was a highlight at Rotonde's Conges Annules in 2022, are real though. The Australian bassist and sexual icon was a real inspiration to Josh and Ben and when he was touring through their home town they decided to see if they could get on the bill as a local support act but Donny was so impressed he decided to take them on as his support for the entire tour!

"He was amazing, he's a really nice guy and helped us out with a lot of good advice and really took us under his wing"

The thing about Donny Benet and Getdown Services however, is that you come for the mustaches, the dance moves and the "fun", but you stay and keep coming back for the actually brilliant songs, arrangements and performances.

These are no novelty acts, you get the feeling that Getdown Services are one televised TV appearance at Glastonbury or something similar away from absolutely exploding.

De Gudde Wellen have a history of grabbing artists just before they hit the big time and it's possible they might have done it again with this booking. Getdown Services' new EP, Your Medal's in the Post, is out today, so you could say that the show at DGW is their EP release party and fans should head on over to the band's bandcamp ( https://getdownservices.bandcamp.com/) to get their hands on a copy.

Get ready for anything at de Gudde Wellen tonight, but rest assured you'll have a story to tell afterwards.
