The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical
Play

Sam was joined by the Pirate Productions director, Clare, assistant director, Bella as well as Percy, himself, aka 11 year old David to discuss how the play came about as well as the sheer magnitude of such a dynamic musical production based upon Rick Riordan's best selling book.

Bella, aka the brains behind the project broke down how this whole play came about and David gave us a bit of the background and filled us in on who exactly Percy Jackson is and what he represents. He explained that the play centers around a dyslexic kid with ADHD who keeps getting thrown out of school when actually he cannot control himself because of his powers due to being the half-blooded son of a Greek god, Zeus.

Percy Jackson doesn't want his powers or his destiny but what's even worse is that he is running from actual monsters on his trail. When Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical has an enormous cast of 45, with over 30 kids at the heart of the production, and the rehearsals are now in full swing in preparation for this action-packed mythical adventure.
