„Ziel mir keng“: CO2 Footprint of Electric Car vs Combustion Engine Car
In the current climate crisis, electric cars are supposed to help reduce CO2 emissions.
But do electric cars really emit less CO2 than combustion engine vehicles?
Electric cars do not need diesel or petrol, but they do require electricity and a battery. Does that really save CO2? For those who want the quick answer: the electric car has a lower CO2 footprint, if you drive it long enough. But how long do you actually have to drive it? The science communicators from science.lu at the National Research Fund investigated this in this “Ziel mir keng”-video, in collaboration with researcher Thomas Gibon from LIST – and looked at both production and usage.
RTL launched the format “Ziel mir keng!” together with science.lu from the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR): a science check on socially relevant topics!
