40 years - 40 natural reserves – Rossmillen
The 18,57 ha nature reserve "Rossmillen" consists of three large artificial ponds, a wet meadow and a large forest area.
The "Rossmillen" nature reserve is a 18.57 hectare reserve acquired in 2020, located near Binsfeld, at the confluence of the Wemperbaach and the Milleschleed, consisting of three large artificial ponds, a wet meadow and a large forest area. This wetland is used as a resting and nesting place for a multitude of bird species linked to this particular biotope. One can observe the black stork (Ciconia nigra), the great egret (Ardea alba), the cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), the little grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis), the common teal (Anas crecca) or the kingfisher (Alcedo atthis). In cooperation with the responsible authorities, a renaturation of the Wemperbaach brook and the ponds is planned in order to improve the wetland mosaic and the migration of fish.
