Luxembourger looks for storage space for building materials - and finds dream castle for his family 
 
When roofer Francy Weyrich was looking for a storage place for building materials in 2011, he discovered the 15th-century castle on the offered property, which has since been lovingly renovated in cooperation with the family: "We used to work here every weekend," says Weyrich, "it brought our family together," he adds. 
At the time of purchase, practically only the foundation walls of the outbuildings were standing. A company that originally wanted to turn it into a luxury hotel had completely gutted everything. 
Since 2012, the family has been living at Kewenig Castle, which is located just over the Luxembourg border. Exhibitions and concerts are held regularly, and there is also a wedding room: "We would like to give others the opportunity to participate in life at Kewenig Castle," say the castle owners.

"For us, it’s important to offer people accommodation rather than leave a house vacant“ says one of the founders of a new co-living start-up, and so a single-family villa was completely transformed. The result is a six-person home with a Zen, Jungle, and Bohemian aesthetic. Resident Louise explains what she particularly likes: "We often come from different countries and everyone has their own story and vision, and in a co-living space you can share that with others, you can learn a lot from each other."

The idea was to create a place where travellers won't be so alone, where they'll be able to better connect with other travellers and the people living there. The house from 1635 was renovated with the aim of illustrating the coexistence between respect for the old and the installation of more modern elements.

It is complicated to find flats that are affordable and also adapted to suit the needs of students. The university was of course very happy when 'Fondation de Luxembourg' approached them, and this house right here really is an incredibly beautiful, old, and classic house.
