PISA - The history and firefighters of Luxembourg Airport
How has Luxembourg airport developed from a humble grass strip to an important European hub for its passengers and NATO?
In this month's PISA episode, Olivier Catani looks at one of Luxembourg's most prominent infrastructures: the airport.
In fact, the airport's history is rather rich: it acted as a strategic base for the US Army in WW II, is home to the national airline Luxair, has one of the longest runways in Europe (which even saw the Concorde land here) and acts as a NATO surveillance base, too.
Furthermore, what do the airport's firefighters do? This time we're going to see them in action (although luckily not with a real accident).
