Screen Time: Episode 68 - Stealing Beauty 30.08.26
Episode 68 serves up another hour of films, streaming, gaming and assorted pop-culture nonsense.
Bernardo Bertolucci’s, Stealing Beauty (1996) gets the Featured Soundtrack treatment, with Portishead, Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday combining into one gloriously eclectic collection that somehow makes doing absolutely nothing feel vaguely European and artistic.
On the cinema side, Leviticus mixes queer coming-of-age drama with supernatural horror, while Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger follows Liam and Noel Gallagher’s massive reunion tour. The Kinepolis Top Five sees The End of Oak Street, PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie and Insidious: Out of the Further chasing The Odyssey and the seemingly immovable Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Movie news also brings heartfelt tributes to Dolly Parton and Tim Curry, Sacha Baron Cohen’s return as Ali G, LAIKA’s ambitious Wildwood, Tom Cruise going very un-Ethan-Hunt in Digger, and a record-breaking 34,000 visitors for Luxembourg’s Sunset Cinema.
Our reviews are a fairly bloody bunch this week. Coyotes gets three stars for being exactly the kind of pulpy, grisly creature-feature schlock it promises to be, while 007: First Light earns four stars by combining Hitman-esque stealth with Uncharted-scale spectacle. It can be a little too eager to shove Bond onto the next set-piece, but its smart character-building, disguised tutorials and even a full training montage make this one of the strongest attempts yet to let players actually become 007.
Elsewhere, streaming brings Ahsoka Season 2, The Gentlemen Season 2, Prime Video’s new RoboCop and the return of Slow Horses. Gaming has a 2028 window for The Witcher 4, Dave Bautista becoming Kratos, plastic guitars returning with Stage Tour, and Xbox finding a clever way to keep physical collections relevant in a digital future.
Add Show Tunes, Kinepolis tickets and a Fun Film Fact involving The Exorcist turning its set into a walk-in freezer, and Episode 68 is another healthy hour of questionable viewing decisions made so you don’t have to.
