The Lunchbox - Simon Rix of Kaiser Chiefs

“We sort of invented playlisting...in a way…well, at least moved it on…but we found that people DO want people to curate things for them”
A few days before the King’s Coronation, I got the chance to chinwag with the Kaiser Chief’s Simon Rix and we covered a fair amount of ground. Not least in deciding what is a good quiche alternative. We spoke about the desire to challenge themselves as a band, about how being young when the world went Kaiser’s mad was both a blessing and a curse, how they all agree that NOT writing Employment two was the best decision they made, and how little credit the band actually got for their choose your own album experiment back in 2011. The trousers may have been tighter back in 2003, but for a time you could not escape a Kaiser Chiefs cut, that they are back and seemingly firing on all cylinders is terrific news. This is part one of a two-part interview. Cheers.
