The Lunchbox: Heather Woods Broderick interview part 2

"It's more challenging to make stripped down music and have it come off the way you intended, rather than burying it under layers of tricks and production"
In the second of this two-part interview, I get to chat with Heather about how she goes about writing a song, how the melody normally reflects that which she is trying to say…how trying to keep up with the rapture of the world can be exciting and frustrating and how new LP Labyrinth moves on from but accompanies Invitation – both are key pieces of work that reflect Heather as an artist at that time – there is far less reverb on her vocals nowadays. Though Labyrinth showcases an ever more personal side to her song craft, her private life will remain just that. But we do get to find out which track is Heather’s go-to Karaoke bop. This is part two of two, check out part one on RTL Play. Cheers (image: Sophie Kuller)
