The Lunchbox - Cavetown Interview

"I feel like a lot of young artists, especially younger artists, are taken advantage of. I wish they knew they are the boss of themselves and their music."
Cavetown, AKA Robbie Daniel Skinner, is a bone fide phenomenon, having burst onto the scene from YouTube success, boasting some 400 million views along the way. Heading to den Atelier on July 1st, I got to catch up with the multi-hyphenate, singer-songwriter-producer as we caught up on the 2002 album Worm Food, what it means to navigate the murky waters of the music industry, as Robbie suggests there is no real secret to success other than luck and happiness in doing what you love. We discover that Cavetown likes a little 'drinky' now and again and is steadfast in relation to self-production. Cavetown is not about to make beef with Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift fans, is not especially concerned about AI taking over and stresses the importance of a Cavetown audience feeling safe and welcoming.
