The Lunchbox - Marcy Interview

“Pink Moon Tokyo is, for sure, the most honest song I’ve ever written – and it’s also a bit scary to have it out there.”
Luxembourg alternative pop-rock artist marcy joined Stephen “Steps” Lowe on RTL Today Radio to discuss her new single “Pink Moon Tokyo”, her musical journey and finally feeling as though she has found her own sound.
Having started with violin and piano at the conservatory before gravitating towards electric guitars, marcy points to Yungblud, Paramore and Sofia Isella among her influences, while describing recent tracks “Until She Minds” and “Pink Moon Tokyo” as the first where she has truly felt confident about her musical identity.
The latter is also her most personal release yet, confronting anxiety, self-doubt and the pressure of feeling she has to justify her place on increasingly bigger stages. “It is, for sure, the most honest song I’ve ever written,” she told Steps. Putting those thoughts into a song was daunting, but messages from listeners who recognised themselves in her words have made the vulnerability worthwhile.
